Bled Lake and Church (25 mins)

A walk round the lake takes about 2 hours, mainly on tarmac road or boardwalk.  Row boats leave for the island church from all round the lake or you can hire a boat yourself.

Bled Castle (25 mins)

Drive or walk up to the castle and interesting museum for great views over the lake and town.

Swimming spots

Try any of these top spots if you fancy a swim in the lake:

Zaka Camping, Lake Bled: far end of lake where you can wade into the water, although sometimes a bit slimy!

Mlino, Lake Bled: good for jumping or diving into the lake.

Lake Bohinj: try the beach halfway down the south side, which is a few minutes walk from a parking area on the road; or at the far end of the lake in the meadows; or at the near end of the lake, over the bridge and left from Ribčev Laz, where there is a cafe with great views.

Triglav National Park (25 mins)

The easiest access point is Vrata Valley.  Starting from Mojstrana, a dirt road takes you all the way to Aljažev Dom where parking is available.  You can walk through the magnificent beech forest and get right underneath the mighty north face of Triglav, one vertical kilometre high.  There are two via ferrata routes here that take you to the heart of the Alps in 4-6 hours.  Multi-day parking is available.

Vršič Pass (50 mins)

Fantastic views of Prisojnik and it's rock window.  There's a nice walk up to Sleme (see walks page), there's via ferrata to do, or you can make a driving day of it (see day trips page).

Bohinj (45 mins)

Take the cable car up to Vogel for stunning views out over the valley and Julian Alps.  Stroll around the lake on footpaths (a good alt. to Lake Bled which is often busier)

Radovljica (25 mins)

Radovljica is an old iron town with plenty of history. You'll also find an interesting bee museum here.

Sitting on the Terrace!

One of my favourite activities, especially with a glass of wine!  Peaceful and with beautiful scenery.  For a great view of the Julian Alps, turn right at the bottom of our drive and drive up the road to a collection of signposts and turn left over a bridge.  Drive to the top and park in a lay-by.  With a short walk it's easy to find a nice picnic spot as well.

You are ideally placed in Planina pod Golico, to see all the local attractions.  Below is a pick of the best places, all within an hour of the chalet:
