Cycling

Forest tracks take you on a circuit, from Planina pod Golico, round the mountain-side to Dom Pristava hut.  There are 'free to roam' forest tracks on all the surrounding hills. A single Gary Fisher 21" mountain bike is available at the chalet, by prior arrangement, or you can hire from Pac Sports or Bled Rafting.   Tours can be arranged with Agora.

Cycling up from Bohinjska Bistrica towards Zatrnik

For a gentle cycle, Lake Bled has a tarmac road all the way round (about 2km), while Lake Bohinj, Pokljuka, Kranjska Gora or Jelovica have forest tracks galore, without too much up and down.

Road cycling in Slovenia is awesome!  Most of the small roads in the area (see picture above) are quiet enough to make cycling very enjoyable.  For some proper Alpine style cycling, try getting over Vršič pass from Kranjska Gora to Tolmin!

This 1:50,000 map of the local area will give you an idea of what's available (for scale, it's 5km across the top).

I've started to map some walks and cycles on MapMyRide.
